Description
A very nice quality large Anglo Saxon decorated bronze saucer style brooch.
This item which dates to the 6th -7th century AD, is in wonderful condition.
The thin raised bronze lip to the brooch has been lost in antiquity ,however as they were cast very thinly they seldom survive due to soil compression in the ground.
It has been richly deorated and has a large jute scroll to the centre with much simple dash work still present. The iron fastening pin has long since perished in antiquity as expected , but the decorative work to this piece is testament to the Anglo Saxon art form.
Size 3.8 CM in Dia.
Norfolk excavations in 1971.
As with all of my antiquities and coins this item comes complete with a display box together with a certificate of authenticity.
