Description
A fabulous solid silver king charles 1st half crown coin ,pierced and used as a good luck touch piece .
This item which dates to the time of the English civil war , circa 1642 -49 AD, when the supporters of the king did battle against those of Oliver Cromwell and his roundhead forces.
This coin would have been worn around the neck of a supporter of the king to show allegiance to the king and the royal family.
With very little wear on this piece it shows the king on horseback on the obverse side whilst his coat of arms can be seen to the reverse.
It has been restrung on a modern thong to enable it to be worn in exactly the same way as in the mid 17th century.
Nottinghamshire excavations in 1974.
Size 3.6 CM in Dia
As with all of my antiquities and coins this item comes complete with a display box together with a certificate of authenticity.
