The Antiques Centre York is a listed five storey Georgian townhouse located in the heart of York on the busy street Stonegate, just a few seconds walk from the York Minster. With five showrooms spread over three floors and over one hundred dealers from all over the country, The Antiques Centre York stocks a hugely diverse range of antiques, collectables and vintage items, catering for all tastes and covering many periods from Ancient Rome to Georgian, Victorian, Edwardian, Art Deco through to contemporary.
As well as the shop we have the website, which has a growing selection of items from the centre for sale online, which we post worldwide. We make a selection of items to upload for sale onto the website, making sure every dealer is represented, for no extra charge. We also encourage dealers to take their own photographs and write descriptions which we can upload for them. The more work you can do, the more stock you’ll have online for sale.
Lease and Cabinets
Rental for cabinets is charged quarterly, at a minimum term of six months. We have mostly wooden framed cabinets on the ground and lower floor, which are approximately 90cm wide by 50cm deep by 180cm high and have five adjustable shelves. We also have smaller free standing glass cabinets throughout and non-cabinet units on the first floor for larger items. Prices vary depending on size and location in the centre.
In addition to quarterly rental, the Centre charges a 6.5% commission from all sales taken (plus VAT). There is also a 3.5% charge on any card payment sales.
All sales are recorded electronically, which means we have instant access to any dealer’s sales during any time period. If you would like to know your sales at anytime during the month, you can ring up the centre or pop in and we’ll be able to give you a report of what has sold.
We pay our dealers at the beginning of every month by BACs, straight into your nominated bank account. A computerised sales statement will be sent to you by email or posted to you.
All stock must be labelled by you, including price, item description, cabinet number (which we will give you) and any stock number you may have. We encourage dealers to put as much information a possible about an item onto their labels – it all helps with sales. If you are unable to travel to the centre for any reason, you can send us your items by insured post and we’ll replenish your cabinet for you.
