A very good quality medieval period ,lead Vessica shaped, merchants seal matrix.
This item which dates to circa 13th -15th century AD , has a fleur de lys to the centre and a Latin inscription around the outter edge.
The suspension loop is still present to the rear and this piece has been attached to a simple thong and could be worn as a pendant.
Merchants seals were used to stamp their crest or symbol on documents with a wax impression as proof of ownership and authority .
Excellent condition and free from restoration and repair.
