A wonderful quality brass alms dish which depicts the scene from the old testament- The Spies Of Canaan. This piece which dates to circa mid 16th to early 17th century AD,has an excellent allover deep rich patina.
It has a small amount of decay to the rim as shown and when turned over it has original lead repairs to the rear. These repairs were done in the 17th century AD ,and are part of its history and typical of brass repousse' dishes of this period.
Excellent subject matter showing the spies carrying a huge bunch of grapes from the promised land.
Rare and interesting.
As with all of my antiquities and coins this item comes complete with a certificate of authenticity.
